If I Was Even Smaller

If I was even smaller....

I could climb one of the snow piles outside my dorm and claim it for my own. I would name it Mount Dzhugashvili because it's fun to say.

I could be so sneaky. You don't even know. Velociraptors wouldn't even be able to find me or catch me.

I could ride in your pocket all day and keep you company.

My cuteness would be magnified to dangerous levels causing people to explode with happiness.

I would ride on a robin as it hops around on the grass. Why? Because I can.

I would also have a chariot pulled by squirrels.

The world would be one big theme park/obstacle course basically.

I would definitely qualify for that midget scholarship too.

.....otherwise it would really really really suck.

Valentine's Day

So Valentine's day...I hate it. It can go die.

This year was probably the worst Valentine's Day. I got my heart broken :(

On the bright side, I was informed of the existence of this:

So that made my day better....and it continues to do so.

Climate Change

In a "Day After Tomorrow"-esque scenario, it is believed that the entire United States has snow on the ground-even Hawaii (Well...the volcano peaks there sometimes have snow so I guess that's what they are counting).

Major news stations are even offering articles on how to keep your heart safe when shoveling in their lifesyle sections. It's funny how people don't know how to shovel snow.

Then there is the misconception that this whole ordeal "debunks" global warming.

Let me briefly get a few facts straight:

It's true...Global Warming isn't a really accurate term to be using. Global Climate Change is actually the more correct term to be using.

The term "Global Warming" is a reference to the fact that the rise of CO2 ppm in the atmosphere positively correlates with the temperature rising. CO2 levels and temperature have fluctuated on a cycle that has brought the earth into "Ice Ages" and back out of it. The natural peak of CO2 is 280ppm. We are currently sitting at 386ppm. The direct correlation to rising temperatures is what concerns people.

The earth has never seen a time where the CO2 levels were at 386ppm. We are basically "experimenting" on the earth. It is unknown what exact changes in climate are to occur because we have disrupted the natural cycle...but it is known that the climate is changing...and the cause is anthropogenic.

Snow has happened in these places before. Weather is different than climate.

El nino is going on. It makes weird weather.

There are so many natural cycles within the earth...it's hard to tell what exactly is going to happen because there are so many factors. it is unclear how all these factors interact with one another. The earth is complex.

I tried to make that as easy as possible.

The point is, the climate is changing and we need to do something about it. The snow in the south doesn't prove or disprove anything. It is a singular event.

As Bill Nye says on the matter: "Stay passionate my friends, let’s work together and change the world".

Never mind

I don't know what I want to do.

Whenever I plan things... they fail.

So why bother snowing if the sun is only going to melt it.

What? Me? A Religion Major?

So...I've decided along with majoring in Environmental Studies I might also major in Religion (with a concentration in Asian Studies).

I know this might surprise...pretty much everyone. I don't seem like the religious type do I? Nothing has changed... I haven't had this profound revelation that told me I must preach or anything. I still don't believe in one religion. That doesn't mean I have no interest in religion. Humanities was my favorite class, you know. Even the philosophy stuff.

I feel that in order to understand people better...I should understand their religions better. I don't want be the devout religion major who knows the bible front to back...I don't want to be the religion major who looks at religions in a purely scholarly way either. I just want to be the religion major who understands an interesting aspect of the world better.

Even though I'm not a religious person myself, religions fascinate me. The teachings, the beliefs, the philosophies, the controversies, the inconsistencies...it just interests me.

It's hard to describe exactly why I want to be a religion major.

It's just all part of my plan to save the world. No need to worry.
